Who Sunsama is great for

Sunsama is for people who want a ritual. Each morning it guides you through choosing today's tasks, estimating them and timeboxing them onto your calendar. Each evening it walks you through a shutdown. If deciding by hand is the point, because it keeps you honest about what fits, Sunsama does that well.

Where Sunsama wins:

  • Integrations. Around 20, including Asana, Jira, Linear, Notion and Slack. If your tasks live in a team tracker, Sunsama pulls them into one daily list.
  • Native apps on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux.
  • The ritual itself. Guided planning and reviews are the product, not an add-on.

Where people get stuck

Two things come up. First, price: no free plan, and $17 a month on yearly billing is $204 a year. Second, the ritual takes time every day. On a calm Monday that is fine. On a Wednesday with three moved meetings, re-dragging blocks by hand is the step people skip, and the plan drifts from reality by lunch.

Sunsama can auto-schedule a single task and adjust blocks around a locked task. What it centers on, though, is you making the plan. Some people want the opposite: a draft they correct.

How Needt differs

  1. The day is drafted for you. Needt places every task with an estimate into free time, by deadline, priority and energy. Planning becomes a two-minute review instead of a ritual.
  2. It rebuilds when things move. A meeting shifts, Needt re-plans the rest of the day and lists what moved. You confirm.
  3. Docs and Boards live with the plan. Meeting notes, a project page or a moodboard sit one click from the task.

An example day

Alex opens Needt at 08:45. The day is already drafted: Spanish lesson prep, 30 min at 09:00, a 10:00 to 10:45 client call, homepage copy, 2h #Website at 11:00 and 14:00 split around lunch. At 13:30 the client asks to move the call to tomorrow. Needt offers to pull reply to supplier, 15 min #Shop into the freed slot and shows the change. One tap. No dragging.

Questions, answered.

Does Needt have a daily planning ritual like Sunsama?

Not a guided ritual. Needt drafts the day, and you review and adjust it. Many people pair it with a short weekly review instead.

Does Sunsama auto-schedule?

Sunsama can auto-schedule individual tasks onto your calendar and shift blocks around a locked task. Needt schedules the whole day and rebuilds it when plans move.

Does Needt integrate with Asana, Jira or Linear?

Not directly. Needt connects calendars, Gmail, Outlook and IMAP, imports Todoist and Notion, and exposes MCP and an API for everything else.

Is Needt cheaper than Sunsama?

Yes for a solo user. Needt Pro is $59 a year against $204 a year for Sunsama on yearly billing, and Needt has a free plan.

Can I try both at the same time?

Yes. Both offer a 14-day free trial. On Needt you add a card only if you keep Pro. Connect the same calendar to both and compare a week.

Can Needt turn emails into tasks?

Yes. Connect Gmail, Outlook or IMAP, and Needt suggests a task from the email that you can accept or edit.
